Taylor called “environmental
hero” by PennEnvironment
Philadelphia – Today PennEnvironment recognized
State Rep Rick Taylor (Montgomery)
and only five of his colleagues from the southeast for standing up for the
environment with 100% voting records. The five other legislators to
receive such distinction were Babette Josephs (Phila.), Daylin Leach
(Montgomery), Bryan Lentz (Delaware), James
Roebuck (Phila.) and Greg Vitali (Delaware).
In accepting the award, Taylor
said, “Now more than ever, we need to be conscious of what we are doing with
the energy and the environment.”
Taylor continued, “We needed a sound energy
policy 30 years ago but because of shortsightedness we are
now having to deal with the consequences. While Big Oil companies
are mopping up record profits, we are left with energy prices that are sapping
the pocketbooks of every American.”
“PennEnvironment applauds State Representatives Josephs, Leach,
Lentz, Roebuck, Rick Taylor and Vitali for being environmental heroes.
They received scores of 100%, consistently voting to protect Pennsylvania’s environment and the public’s
health,” said PennEnvironment Director David Mazur.
PennEnvironment is a statewide non-profit, citizen based
environmental advocacy organization. The scorecard and full description
of the votes may be found at www.PennEnvironment.org/scorecard.
